Kari grew up in Australia where she started playing field hockey at the age of five. When she moved to the Netherlands in 1988 she continued her passion for playing hockey at a high level. With her love for sports she decided to study Commercial Sports Economics, graduating in 2007. Unfortunately she had to quit playing hockey that same year because of an injury – and that’s when she really fell in love with yoga.
Her passion for yoga grew every day and her injury healed. After six years of practicing hot yoga and during a difficult time in her life she decided to do a 100-day challenge and combined it with raising money for a charity which helps children with muscle diseases. Following this, she was keen to deepen her knowledge and understanding of yoga in general and went to an ashram to undergo the sivananda teacher training course.
She never expected what she experienced there; it was truly life changing. Her passion to teach yoga grew, and after completing the teacher-training at Absolute Yoga Amsterdam in 2013 she’s now loving and enjoying her never-ending journey as a yoga teacher and student.
